A short Break in Normandy, France
France is our go-to country in Europe and we visit it at least once a year. This year, when a long weekend came, my husband & I just planned to travel last minute and bought the flight tickets to Paris just two days before departure. The idea was to spend two nights three days in France and travel to places near Paris, where we could reach within 2-3 hours.
That brought us to the subject of best day trips of Paris. Out of all possible daytrips that are near Paris, Palace of Versailles is my favorite trip. Having visited Versailles earlier, we wanted to see something new, something unexplored. Normandy came up as a region we had never been to before and the region is full of culture, natural beauty and great food. Normandy has one of France’s most famous landmarks, Mont Saint-Michel, as well as impressive castles, grand churches, and picturesque old towns such as Rouen. Along the Channel coast, dramatic limestone cliffs drop off into the ocean, while Lower Normandy is characterized by verdant, peaceful valleys. So off we went, we took a rental car from Paris Orly Airport and set off to our road trip of Normandy. While we took a car to have maximum flexibility, major towns of Normandy are conveniently connected by multiple trains and buses from Paris.
